“You’ll be on there one day”
—Mum
Hi, I’m Saskia!
I’ve been watching Gruen on the ABC each week since I was 10 years old. Although most 10-year-olds wouldn’t be interested in watching adults dissect ads, I was fascinated.
Fast-forward to 2026, I am still waiting for the day I appear on Gruen. In the meantime, I’m just a few short months from finishing my Bachelor of Communication, where I major in Advertising and Digital & Social Media.
I am drawn to how advertising combines creativity with analytical thinking, which has shaped my desire to go into account management and strategy.
Outside of uni, I’ve been loving working on my social media and content creation. Since 2025, I have been building my platform on TikTok, creating curated UGC for brands, predominantly in the beauty space. I have worked with brands such as the Australian personal care brand Gem and haircare brand Marc Daniels on their Go Curly range.
I’ve also had the chance to put a lot of what I’ve learned into practice through Young Bullets. I am currently an account manager and the event coordinator of Deakin University’s 2026 Young Bullets team.
From working with industry professionals and sponsors to helping bring the event to life, it’s given me a glimpse into what working in the industry could be like and confirmed that I want to be in it. I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to work with a team to deliver a real industry event and campaign, rather than just another university assignment.
So that’s me: aspiring account manager, strategist and content creator, and still hoping that Mum was right about Gruen.
